2018 Field Notes

2018 seemed to start out challenging. As spring approached it seemed we would never get to start. But we eventually started rolling on the 27th of April. Conditions were good, but had a couple of rain delays pushed us to finish on the 11th of May. As summer went on we managed to get timely rains. Never too much nor too little. By the time harvest came, those timely rains showed up presenting us with one of our best crops ever. As my dad always said "sometimes a poor start is a good finish". Though not always true, this time it truly was!

In other happenings around around the farm, Marissa, our youngest child, married her boyfriend Ben. The marriage took place atop a picturesque mountain in South Carolina, while the reception was held back here in Iowa on Lori and my's front lawn. We congratulate Mr. and Mrs. Woomer!
